We are excited to announce the release of upsells for online booking. Over the last 6 months we’ve had many customers request the ability to offer additional services or products during the booking and it’s finally here.

Why Upsells

Upsells are a vital part of running a business these days. If you think about it, many of us encounter multiple upsells every single day. For example, when you buy a sandwich and the clerk asks “would you like fries and a drink with that?”. It’s so common that we often don’t realize what is even happening.

There isn’t a better time to ask a customer if they want “fries and a drink” then at the time they’re buying the sandwich.

An upsell can be anything you want it to be. For a barbershop, an upsell could be for a beard trim or beard oil. For a consultant, an upsell could be for the 1-1 in person meeting compared to the normal Zoom session. If you’re a yoga studio, maybe your upsell is to rent a mat with the session. The options are endless, and can be whatever you want.

How upsells work

You’ll find the upsells section within the Start Booking form editor. From there, you can see all the upsells you have as well as the ability to create new ones. For services, an upsell can increase the duration of the appointment and/or increase the price of the appointment. For classes, upsells cannot extend the duration but they can make the session cost more money. As an example, let’s use the barbershop scenario.

Create Upsell

For the barbershop scenario, we’ll create an upsell for a beard trim.

Add Upsell Conditions

Upsell conditions are how you set and define when the Start Booking system should display an upsell to a customer. For this example, we’ll set the condition for displaying the Beard Trim upsell when the customer selects the Hair cut service.

View Upsells

Once the upsell is created, you can view the Beard trim upsell under the manage tab.

Now that we’ve created the Beard Trim upsell, the next step is to customize how it will be displayed within your booking flow.

Lastly, we built in the ability to preview the different scenarios for displaying upsells. This helps you understand what upsells will be displayed to your customers and why. As you can see from the example below, when the service Hair Cut is selected, the Beard Trim upsell will be displayed.

We are really excited to get this in your hands and see the different ways you come up with configuring your booking flow. Please let us know your feedback in the comments below.
